School Accomplishments
       High Tech, Intensive ELD Instruction at Chavez All students at Chavez get a world class education. Our English Learners get at least 45 minutes of English Language Development each day. We are piloting a program where selected students get an additional 30 minutes of intensive Systematic ELD Instruction as well as an account for a very high-tech program called Rosetta Stone. There is quite a bit of research proving the effectiveness of this program. It was developed for the world famous language institute in Monterey, California. Today we began the program and the students were VERY excited. In fact when it came time for them to go home they begged us to let them stay! Check out the pictures of these students using Rosetta Stone for the first time. The computer lab was made possible by the NLMUSD ITS Department. Mr. Centeno, Mr. Olteanu, Mr. Garcia, Mr. Matthies all played extremely important roles in getting this off the ground for us! Special thanks to Mr. Scherschel the Chavez teacher whose vision brought this to reality!
